11.10.20 Final Edits

These are my 6 edited images which tell the narrative of a girl who is supposedly awake, but is actually dreaming. Throughout she becomes conscious she is dreaming and tries to wake herself up. However, the dream simply starts again. I originally was aiming towards making a book, but time got the best of me and I was only able to get my images edited. I kept having trouble with masking out areas, the very picky areas kept getting annoying, so I had to deal with that plenty of times. The more I did it though the more comfortable I felt with it, so I definitely need more practice with that. Overall I am satisfied with my compositions, but also they could always use some improvement with better blending and tone.

11.19.20: First Iteration

First I started off in illustrator to make my line pattern. I then saved that into a jpeg and brought it into photoshop. To make the varying frames I resized the image, added a multiply blending mode to alter the color as well. I even played with opacity towards the end of the gif. I mostly made this one to get a feel for how the timeline works in photoshop. I wanted to create more movement and variation with my pattern. As I was making my pattern, I started thinking about labyrinths and how they are endless mazes that one can't escape easily. I will probably make patterns that resemble this more rather than creating some optical illusion effect. Or maybe it will look like one in the end. I'm not quite sure. My focus is to just do rather than think, so I don't get hung up on that.

10.29.20: First Phase of Project 4

I was inspired by Alexis' Project 3 regarding her interests towards the cyclical nature of dreams. I am also very interested in dreams, and for my narrative I am basing it loosely on one of my experiences with dreams. A couple of my dreams consisted of a dream within a dream; I notice I fall asleep in my dream and then I "wake up," but I am just in the same dream. Lucid dreaming is something I can loosely do sometimes because if I am experience a nightmare or anything that's scarring me, all of a sudden, I become aware I am dreaming. To escape the nightmare, I simply close my eyes, and tell myself "wake up." My direction is to showcase a girl who wakes up in a dream, but doesn't realize it until the end; however, the dream is an endless cycle that cannot be broken. I've taken and collected photos I took staging the different parts of my narrative, and the next phase is to bring some of them into photoshop to add textures to amplify the dream like ...
